Quiz updates as the first thing to be posted in AGES. Maybe I'll keep up with posting maybe not. My computer decided to crash and I may not be able to retrieve anything from it, which is overshadowing EVERYTHING these days, so life's not all sunshine and hugs, especially when compounded on top of all the work I have to do anyway. Ah well. Life is a bitch. And I want to reload my life from saturday so I could backup all my data. :-(

Been a long time since I wrote here, but I'm doing nothing but trying to ignore the fact that I'm trying to go for a thesis next semester, but have no actual idea what I would write on. I have tentative ideas, but they're all general. And registration is tomorrow!!!!! Gah! Now I just have to wait for e-mail replies to come in.

Had a 4 day field trip to Northern Greece this weekend, so I wasn't able to do any work on my thesis attempts, nor on my homework either. We stayed in Thessaloniki and saw a bunch of Ancient Macedon sites. We had fun, saw some really cool arifacts, partied hard, and went to a Bazouki club. I spent maybe, MAYBE 10 hours actually in my bed at the hotel. So, really, really exhausted right now. But it was fun and good, even though we got in at 9:45pm last night.

Since my last entry, I've been quite busy. We had all of the school field trips that I went on. I went to the islands of Syros and Mykonos, the town of Monemvasia, the ruins of Mystras, Olympia, and Delos (not all at the same time). On the past weekend, we visited the royal tombs at Vergina, the ruins of Pella, Olynthus, and Stageira, and saw the battlefields of Chaeronea, Leuctra, Thermopylae, and Haliartus. We even stopped at a museum to Aristotle, which was absolutely fantastic and we all had great fun there, lighting cigarettes with a magnifying glass, getting drunk vibes from the optical illusions, and playing with the other cool toys they had there.

I'll try to update tomorrow, so I won't say much of anything else here now, since I can talk about classes and registration after it occurs and then what's going on the rest of the week.

Easter is this upcoming Sunday! Yay! Break soon!

Yay! Spring break soon! And then, there's Easter break soon after that.

Greece is great. Met all the faculty again, and the new ones for the first time. The weather's beautiful. I've been on only one field trip so far, but I'm going to Prague and Vienna for spring break, and Florence for Easter break. The workload's a bit killer, having to look up 50 lines of Homer for each of my Ancient Greek classes. Other than that, life's good and I'm having fun. The bars are fun, the music loud, and the food good.

Hope Valentine's Day was good for all, sorry that I didn't post anything that day.

Hope everyone's doing well, those that I don't talk to. But now, probably should go, as the center closes soon and I need to work on more homework . . .

Geia sou!

Dec. 5th, 2005 @ 02:00 am Sean Paul, Snow, & WaWa, Among Other Things
Current Mood: calm
Current Music: Only TIme [Remix] by Enya
Snow! There's snow! Not more than 2 inches thick, and it warmed up enough for it to start melting and turn slushy, but since I was awake last night when it was snowing, I'm happy anyway.

I learned it was snowing last night because, at 1:30am, I was struck by a strong thirst, and I only had Pepsi Vanilla in my room, and since my dorm does not have a water fountain, I wanted to go somewhere that would be open that late and buy a drink. So, I IMed Stephen who was about the only person also online at that time, at least, at Lafayette. And so, I made sure that WaWa was still open. And then, the pair of us went to WaWa. It was during this walk to WaWa that I realized that it was snowing. And it made me very happy indeed.

Surprisingly, there was a lot of people out and about, expecially at WaWa. The parties must have been ending around then. We ended up both getting Slushies and Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia ice cream bars on a stick. I also bought a carton of Raspberry Iced Tea. After that, we ended up watching the movie Clash of the Titans, with Maggie Smith and Laurence Olivier. We had great fun mocking the movie and pointing out all of the inconcistences with Greek mythology contained therein. By that time, it was about 4am. However, awake and somewhat energetic after the WaWa excursion, I ended up staying up until 9am . . .

Woke up at 1:30pm & went for lunch. Avoided all work until 11pm tonight. Now I'm happy that I cracked down Friday and worked until 2am. Of course, I stayed up until 4am that night, but still.

Also last night, I caught a computer virus over AIM. Stupid thing. Got it contained at least and stopped it from sending out to most everyone else luckily. But now, my computer keeps having these spyware and virus notices popping up, and everytime I delete one of them, I get notification that the same virus has reinfiltrated my computer!!! . . . Stupid computer. And, now I also get internet pop-ups at random times, even if I'm not using the internet. Grrr. So, tomorrow, after classes, I get to take my computer to Computer Services. Joy oh joy. :-( Oh well, I need to get work done anyway, so it's quite possibly a good thing. But still . . . my computer.

And in other news, I willingly listened to Sean Paul for about 1/2 hour today . . . Surely the world is coming to an end. But actually, I was listening to Yahoo Launch's music videos and We Be Burnin' came on, and I listened to it and found it to be decent. So I listened to the rest of the videos that Launch has for him. Didn't actively care for much more than We Be Burnin', but I didn't hate any of the stuff either. So, yes. I apparently don't mind some rap . . . Shocker, I know.

But now, sleep time.

Current Music: The Dangling Conversation by Simon & Garfunkel
Professor Shaw brought in his 2-year daughter Kendall today since the nanny was out sick. It turned out to be an awesome class. He spent a lot of class entertaining Kendall while we all took notes. And there was lots of funny things that happened. Kendall discovered how to work the remote that made the slides move forward. That was great fun - Professor Shaw was joking about letting her just do all the work while he just sat back and lectured. And comments about her being better at teaching the class were bantered about. And of course, she was going a bit fast to take notes on, with Professor Shaw trying to keep up with the change in slides in his lecture, but by that time, I was laughing so hard, I couldn't have taken any notes anyway. Luckily, she lost interest in the remote just as she came to the stopping point for the new slide. She also discovered the white board marker - which was a Bad Thing. She did NOT want to give up that marker and she was going to play with it, by God. Also, there was general wandering around the room and playing with her stuffed animal, balls, and such. Essentially, Kendall provided a steady source of amusement and attention-holding action. So, psychology lecture today was really fun.

Other than that, I completed a statisfactory amount of homework today. Yay!

You're a Ravenpuff!: You are a very analytical and
ingenius person, someone that likes to invent
new things. The way you look at life is with
wonder, and sometimes you're even a little
naive. But people love you for that trait and
they feel the need to protect you from the
harsh facts of life so that you can retain your
innocence. You are very capable person and when
there is trouble people turn to you because
you're able to stay calm and collected. You
like balance in your life and you try not to
make many waves. Even still, if there is
something that you believe strongly in, you
will commit yourself totally to that cause.
Your weakness is that sometimes you can be
indecisive and perfectionist, especially about
little details and you drive people crazy
sometimes with these traits. With the
innocence of a Hufflepuff and the calm of a
Ravenclaw you will be loved in life!

Back from Carmen! An hour ago though. Ended up knowing several people who went already. Stefany, Julia, Professor Ulucakli, a girl from Keefe 1st Year Wellness.

The restaurant that we had dinner at, Quijote, was decent. However, they weren't ready for a group as big as ours, so they were late in seating us. Then, we had to skip dessert and rush out of upon finishing dinner because we were running late. And then, we hit NYC traffic . . . Question: Don't people realize that traffic goes faster if they don't change lanes every minute? 'Nough said. Well, we got fed up with the traffic and decided to take another road. However, the driver took us onto a road that was partially blocked and was impassable for the bus. So we had to back up, down the street, with traffic going on behind us. And we missed two light changes too before we actually started to pull back out into the main street. And so, we got there late and had to miss seeing Act I in the theatre. Luckily, they had a theatre next to the perfromance hall that was showing a streaming video of the stage, so that we were able to at least watch the show. Although, it was without subtitles so that we didn't understand what was going on really. Oh well. The rest of the performance was great. Live animals on stage, Denyce Graves looked great and sang well, the gypsy dances were awesome, knew a bunch of the songs already. Even though I was all dressed up, it was a good time. Yay!

Went to The English Concert concert (yes, their name is The English Concert). Andrew Manze, a violinist, was playing with them too (he got his own special credit in the adverts, but I think he may be a member of the group). And they were all from Britain, although they were all English I believe. The music was ok, not great. But then, it was mostly chamber music, and so it wasn't meant to really keep your attention, nor was that was 17th & 18th century Baroque music supposed to do for the most part. It was nice background music type stuff. I may have fallen asleep, but not sure, during the Vivaldi cello sonata, but I woke up, if indeed I did fall asleep, before too long. But otherwise, it was not a bad experience. :-)

And afterwards, I stopped by the library and hung out at the coffee shop, talking to Amanda and her boss for about an hour, until closing and through clean-up. That was fun too.

And in other news, it's gotten really cold here! I've officially whipped out the winter coat. Brrrrrr!

So, the night after "freaking the fuck out", I talked to the guy and saw what he had to say for himself. Namely that he was really really drunk that night and that it was really awkward to have me confront him with it. And also that he blacked out and didn't remember anything.

Then, tonight, I talked to my RA about it. Primarily for community concerns and all, preventive measures and everything towards eliminating a threat to the safety of the community, etc. He was shocked and thrown off-guard there for a while, but I think the RA took it rather well. 8-)

And I've got no big assignments due for a while now! I can relax, take it easy, and hopefully catch up on homework and start work on summer internships. Here's to hope!
